30th May 2017 ... weekly volunteers

Present:

John, Stuart, Keith, Mike m, Mike p, Alan, Ian, Bob and Martin

Activities:

- Keith and Ian did the tin survey. An adder and some slow worms.
- before coffee, clearing some of the paths under the power lines of bracken
- John did some pulling along the road
- taking people to hear the wood warbler, which was singing away. Mostly the trill rather than the descending tones
- Mike p cleared some of the pruning in the orchard into piles ready for a bonfire, and then again near the kissing gate with Bob
- Martin cut bracken around the pillow mound
- rest pulled bracken along beeches avenue and up the slope
- after lunch Ian, Mike m and Martin cleared some soft rush from the pond on the slope and put up the camera to snap activity over night.

Observations:

- wood warbler
- swift
- woodlarks, tree pipits, stonechats, cuckoos male and female
- small Heath,emperor, lots of nymphs in the pond
- Ian celebrating birthday with huge box of flapjack he had made
- discussed swt volunteers events
