Tuesday, 18 September 2018 ... weekly volunteers


Description:Present: Paul, Alan, Mike m, Mike p, Keith, Stuart, Mark, Bernard, Jonathan, David w, Terry, Ian, and Martin Activities: - pulled pine saplings near pillow mound behind cottages - Mike p set all the saw teeth - cleared up the holy brash from making mallets - renovated the drainage ditches along first part of M1 - bagged up cow poo from the cricket pitch and drove them back to the tool store - bagged up some bracken peat from roller stand - continued cutting and splitting the chestnut logs at the roller stand - redid emergency fence post behind nearest beech at tool store, and checked the others on this section - deployed the reptile tins to keep the first log pile dry - prepared the two nest boxes in the shop and put them up in the copse by the store - put back up the mend box on the chestnut near the cricket pitch - looked ponies and cattle Observations: - windy, spots of rain and warm. Too windy for any tree work - decided not to water tubes, rain expected tomorrow - kestrel, raven - the odd dragonfly - more honey in the fund shop for mark - strange swarm of honey bees near trough Martin
