Tuesday, 20 March 2018 ... weekly volunteers

Description:Present: Keith, Bob s, David a, David new, Paul, Pat, Bernard, Mike m, Mike p, Ian, Terry, Stuart, John new, Callum, Jonathan, and Martin Activities: - looked and fed the ponies. Seemed fine despite one lying down. - completed the final check of nest boxes before the season. One mended, one put back up (nearest to stoney pond), and one taken away by Mike m to be mended (up a chestnut tree) - Stuart dug some more bracken peat and took away - road mending continued with laying hardcore from new David - bonfire of the bramble previously cut at the front of the shed plus holly pruned along the road works - pollarded the birch trees around the trough on south heath, making pile of brash - did some remedial work on the new pond on SH - removed the log that the fencers put in a deer run, and moved to behind the shed - reviewed possibility of cutting the large chestnut logs at the roller stand - moved the hay ring to fresh ground - cut some Holly posts from the prunings - 4 fence posts added to the south heath bank to strengthen it

Observations:

- red kite seen again
- ravens
- tree creeper
- redpoll
- woodlark, stonechat
- weather cold with reason to start with. Nasty wind from the north. Much better by lunch time.
